Four valuable ‘Astadhatu’ idols were stolen from the 500-year-old Ishaneswar Temple at Srimukundapur in Puri late on Tuesday night.
The temple servitor found the idols missing on Wednesday morning and immediately informed the village committee, who then lodged a complaint at Gadisagada Police Station.
It is suspected that a racket is behind the theft.
