School peon commits suicide.

JAGATSINGHPUR July 12. One Himadri Bhusan Tripathy [41] who was working as a peon in Purohitpur High School here found hanging in school premises and his dead body was recovered near library room. School headmaster B N Sahoo informed police on Thursday afternoon, acting on complaint police rushed to spot and recovered the dead body and sent for postmortem also recovered a suicide note from the spot and investigation is on however refused to divulge details of the suicide note. Report said that Himadri had joined in school six month ago under rehabilitation scheme after his mother Sailabala Tripathy who was working as a teacher passed away accidentally and spending financial paucity, causing this reason he might have committed suicide , sources said. Women demonstrate demanding closure of liquor shop.

JAGATSINGHPUR July 12. Hundreds of women from Balikuda area on Thursday staged demonstration and protest meeting in front of collector office here demanding closure of a government sponsored licensed liquor shop at Talgaion. The protestors claimed that the liquor shop has become curse for the women folk of the locality since its inception and the local law and order situation have been dwindling due to this liquor shop, earlier the civil administration had been informed closing the liquor shop but did not yield any result till date, protesting the event we staged demonstration repeating our old demand, many women protestors fumed. Later a memorandum was submitted before district collector who assured the agitating women to take needful, and then the agitation was called off. [Ends]

CB probe demanded woman health worker suicide.

JAGATSINGHPUR July 12. Pressure mounts from several quarters starting a CB probe over the mysterious woman health worker suicide incident occurred in Biridi hospital two days ago. Report said that one Kalpana Swain a woman health worker who was working in Biridi hospital found her residence in sixty percent burn injuries and immediately shifted to SCB Medical College and hospital in Cuttack for treatment where she succumbed to her injuries after six days battling for live on Wednesday. Hospital authority had lodged a complaint at police saying the deceased health worker had attempted suicide later died in hospital, police launched an investigation after conducting legal formalities but the locals and deceased health worker kin demand to start a CB probe as they have no trust over the local police investigation and unearth the reasons the situation forced deceased health worker for committing suicide, meanwhile chief district medical officer had conducted a departmental investigation and taking immediate action has shifted the Biridi medical officer Dr Rashmi Ranjan Pattnaik to district headquarters hospital . World population day observed.

JAGATSINGHPUR July 12. The district health department had organized World population day celebration inside the district headquarters hospital premises. Senior MLA Bishnu Das attended the function as chief guest and addressed the gathering, among others chief district medical officer, municipality chairman, Zilla Parishad president, medical officers, NGO activists and local scribes had attended this celebration.
