The first phase of Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls which began today saw 35.03 percent voting till 1.00 p.m., according to the Election Commission of India (ECI).
Agra saw 37.02 percent, Aligarh 32.06 percent, Baghpat 38.03 percent, Bulandshahar 37.05 percent, Gautam Buddha Nagar 28.66 saw percent voting, Ghaziabad 31.84 percent, Hapur 40.12 percent, Mathura 35.92 percent, Meerut 34.37 percent, Muzaffarnagar 35.55 percent and Shamli saw 41.13 percent, the EC statistics showed.
A total of 634 candidates in the fray, 73 of them women, will contest the UP elections. As many as 2.28 crore voters (1.04 of them female) are expected to exercise their franchise at 26,027 polling booths across 10,853 polling stations in 11 districts.
