Agitation at Paradeep refinery site ends, after IOCL authority promised to give compensation to deceased kin.

JAGATSINGHPUR Jan 20.. The standoff surfaced in Indian Oil Corporation ltd Paradeep plant site on 19 January following dead body of a labour found hanging inside plant, then a violent mob and CISF fought a pitch of battle as consequence 12 labourers were sustained hurt and 5 men in uniform received injuries which halted project work yesterday virtually came to an end , after civil administration, IOCL authority, police and agitating trade union leaders converged in a meeting and reached an amicable settlement on Sunday morning.

Official reports said that IOCL authority agreed to give Rs 6 Lakh compensation to the deceased family Rs 50,000 for funeral expense and a job for the deceased wife in IOCL. However IOCL authority and civil administration promised to conduct a prove on CISF personnel brutality for which one dozen labourers got injured form them 5 sever injured have been shifted to SCB Medical College and hospital Cuttack for treatment.

After the civil administration announced the compensation and benefits for the deceased family subsequently the agitated labourers and workers immediately called off the stir and allowed police to perform the legal formalities. The dead body was recovered from the occurrence site and sent for postmortem and report said autopsy was conducted in presence of a magistrate in Kujanga hospital on Sunday afternoon after getting postmortem report the death of the deceased would be ascertained meanwhile investigation is on, informed B S Misra , SDPO Paradeep.

After the labourers withdrew their agitation on Sunday normalcy returned to the IOCL plant site and work s will be restarted from Monday , meanwhile two platoon police forces have been deployed inside the IOCL premises and no untoward incident reported so far.

Notable to inform tension prevailed inside the IOCL premises on Saturday wee hours when one labour Sanjaya Patra hailing from local Trilochanpur village was found hanging inside the plant, as consequence agitated labourers resorted Dharana in front of IOCL gate No-1, then hundreds of villagers from the deceased village joined in the agitation and situation turned turtle when the agitated protestors allegedly progressed entering the plant site, as result the CISF personnel prevented them entering the plant site then resorted mild Lath charge , on retaliation angry protestors hurled stones and rocks to the guarding security men then the entire IOCL premises turned a battle field and few labourers and security guards sustained injuries.
