JAGATSINGHPUR Apr 10. Police have successfully arrested three upper class accused persons involved in the Dalit houses burnt incident occurred in Brahamanidihi village under Anantapur Panchayat in Balikuda block three weeks ago. The accused persons were identified as Pratap Behera, Mihir Behera and Ramesh Behera , soon after the arrest all the accused men were presented in SDJM , Jagatsinghpur court on Saturday and court sent them to judicial custody rejecting their bail pleas. Report said that due to a village dispute the accused upper class people were assaulted three Dalit men named as Gopal Kandi,Govinda Kandi and Brundaban Kandi and set ablaze their 10 houses , the victims had complained at Balikuda police station but cops had turned little arresting the culprits. Protesting the police callousness District Dalit Bikash Parishad had staged agitation before Balikuda police station on 26 March demanded immediate arrest of the accused men and threatened to Gherao SP office at district headquarter if their demands are not met by 11 March. However, before two days of the proposed agitation police picked up three persons and others would be arrested very soon, informed SDPO Manoj Mohanty who is investigating the case. [Ends]
Abducted minor girl rescued from Chennai, accused held.
JAGATSINGHPUR Apr 10. A minor girl hailing from Tentulipada village under Naugaon area had abducted by one Sunil Das a resident of Badagabapur village under Balitutha area on 28th March and the victim girl’s father Bibhuti Mallick had lodged an FIR in Naugaon police station forthwith. Basing on the complainant information a police team had visited Coimbatore in Chennai and successfully nabbed the victim girl and the alleged abductor there. Police investigation revealed that the accused man was a driver and married person, he had taken the minor girl to Chennai luring her for marriage , the victim and the abductor were sent for medical examination, police added.
