Constable dies in road accident.
JAGATSINGHPUR June 09. An excise department constable Gagan Ray who had sustained grievous injuries following a road accident occurred at Tirtol on Cuttack- Paradeep state highway two days ago succumbed to his injuries in a private hospital at Cuttack on Saturday night. Report said that the deceased constable was returning from Kujanga while a speeding oil tanker hit him behind at the spot, locals sent the injured excise man to district headquarters hospital here for treatment but his condition turned critical for which referred to Cuttack for treatment. The constable was hailing from Biribati village here, police seized the oil tanker but the driver has been fled after the accident and investigation is on, informed IIC, Tirtol Police station.
SUCI opposes forcible betel vein demolition.
JAGATSINGHPUR June 09. The SUCI Jagatsinghpur unit on Saturday staged demonstration and protest meeting at district headquarters and discussed the ongoing betel vein demolition in proposed Posco site villages in Kujanga area. The protestors described the administration move acquiring land for the South Koren steel major is completely illegal and few occasions the betel vineyards are being demolished by using force and in absence of its owner’s consent. The SUCI leaders cited one Satya nanda Rout’s betel vein had captured by administration officials by using force on Friday when he was not inclined sacrificing his betel vineyard however Manas Jena who had been killed in Posco bomb blast incident his betel vein has been occupied without approval of his widow Jharana Jena, so we demand a probe on the matter and immediate halting the betel vein destruction in proposed Posce site, said Pradipta Ram district coordinator SUCI. one dies another injured in IOCL gas cylinder explosion.
JAGATSINGHPUR June 09. In a tragic incident one wielder mechanic was killed and another sustained injuries when a gas cylinder put on explosion on Saturday night. The deceased was identified as Sujit Giri and the injured reported as Subodha Giri both were hailing from Madinapur district under West Bengal and working in a private construction company inside proposed IOCL plant in Paradeep. Report said that both were working on Saturday night but suddenly a gas cylinder put on exploision as result Sujit sustained seventy percent burn injuries including his colleague got similar injuries, other fellow workers rescued both injured and brought them to Biju memorial hospital at Paradeep where Sujit succumbed to his injuries and Subodha sent to SCB Medical College and hospital in Cuttack for treatment. After the incident tension prevailed inside the IOCL premises and police rushed to the spot and put the situation under control.
Bus rams over pedestrian.
JAGATSINGHPUR June 09. A pedestrian Phakira Charan Palai hailing from Jagannathpur village under Kujanga area died on spot in a road accident happened near Kujanga bazaar on Cuttack- Paradeep state highway one Saturday night. Report said that a speeding bus rammed over him at the spot when he was returning home. Police seized the dead body and performed postmortem at Kujanga hospital and yet to trace the accused driver and bus. After the incident hundreds of nearby villagers had resorted roadblock as consequence traffic movement had severely halted later police rushed the spot and brought the sittaution under control.
