JAGATSINGHPUR May 16. A minor aged Dalit girl from Tarikunda village under Raghunathpur block had allegedly raped by a tractor driver on 16 July 2012 near Astasambhu temple under Biridi area, in this regard victim girl’s parents had lodged a complaint at Jagatsinghpur police station subsequently, acting on the complaint police had picked up the accused tractor driver Laxmidhar Bhoi alias Mitua hailing from Balia village and filed a rape case against him. The trail of the case was conducted in additional district session judge court here. While delivering judgment on Wednesday judge found the accused tractor driver guilty and sentenced him to undergo 7 years rigorous imprisonment [RI] and pay fine of Rs 6 thousand. [Ends]
Youth dead body recovered.
JAGATSINGHPUR May 16. Kujanga police on Wednesday night recovered a youth dead body lying at agriculture farm near Kujanga and the deceased was identified as Balaram Rout a resident of Kharigotha village. Report said that the dead body was reported sustaining multiple injuries in several body parts, few abandoned liquor bottles and a condom packet were recovered from the spot; police sent the dead body for performing postmortem at Kujanga hospital and instituted an investigation. Meanwhile police informed that two days ago deceased father Shyam Sundar Rout had lodged a complaint stating his son Balaram has been absconded from village taking a new bike and few sum from house, police after registering a missing case launched a man haunt to trace the missing youth surprisingly his dead body found near Kujanga farm house on Wednesday. Although no bike and cash could recover from the dead body site it seemed to be a pre plan murder by few miscreants, police suspect. [Ends]
5 cows crushed under a goods train wheels.
JAGATSINGHPUR May 16 . About 5 cows crushed under a goods train wheels near Khuntala level crossing near Tirtol on Cuttack- Paradep railway line on Wednesday dusk. Report said that the mishap occurred at the time when the deceased cows were crossing the rail line returning village when a speeding goods train coming from Cuttack crushed over them at spot. Mild tension was erupted after the incident, police and RPF personnel reached the spot and put the tension under control then the rail movement on line was restored on Wednesday night. [Ends]
High court orders to maintain status quo on Pasture land.
JAGATSINGHPUR May 16. Acting on public interest litigation [PIL] filed by few conscious citizens of Talapada village under Kujanga block seeking to restrain conducting permanent construction over a piece of pasture land in Talapada village, Odisha high court has ordered to maintain status quo on the said land and issued notices to the RDC central range, district collector Jagatsinghpur, Tahasildar Kujanga and few opposite parties those were performing construction work and sand filling in the said land. The conscious citizens have formed an organization Gochar Surakhya Committee under the leadership of veteran trade union leader and Paradeep Port Trust board member Sudhakar Mantry and decided to work for recovering pasture lands of the locality for facilitating smooth grazing ground for the bovine, as the committee found a piece of such land in Talapada village has been preoccupied by few locals and conducting illegal construction works as result committee moved to High court in form of a PIL bearing No 9575/ 2013, the court responded the matter positively and admitted it for adjudication, trade union leader has expressed his satisfaction on the court order and informed committee would intensify its effort for quick recovering pasture lands of the locality which has been illegally occupying by few unscrupulous people, Mr Mantry informed.
