The ongoing hijab row in Karnataka took an ugly turn with a 26-year-old member of the right-wing group Bajrang Dal being hacked to death on Sunday night in Shivamogga district.
Police have been deployed in large numbers following incidents of arson. Public gatherings have been restricted by the administration. Schools and colleges in the district have also been closed for now.
“Muslim goons have killed him. (State Congress president) DK Shivakumar’s provocative statements have given courage to Muslim goons. This goondagiri won’t be tolerated,” state Minister K S Eshwarappa said while addressing the media over the murder of Harsha, who worked as a tailor.
Meanwhile, security has been heightened in Shivamogga following the brutal killing. Additional police forces have been deployed for the same.
