Jagatsinghpur June 07. The World environment Day has been celebrated by the IFFCO’s Paradeep unit with massive plantation drive including awareness among the employees how to protect and save the environment. Mr A K Sinha senior general manager IFFCO inaugurated the celebration in a function held inside the plant premises attended by senior officers, employees, workers of IFFCO fertilizer plant. This year them of the celebration had named ‘ Think, Eat and Save’ following the occasion Banners and posters had been displayed showing environmental concern of the recent times. A massive plantation drive had launched to mark the occasion about 2000 saplings corresponding few fruits bearing trees had planted inside the IFFCO Township and factory premises. A film had screened through cable television showing alarming condition of global warming and degradation of green covers. Speaking on the occasion IFFCO authorities had discussed several environmental measures had been taken by IFFCO in recent past significantly has been contributed funds for avenue plantation drive in few Jagatsinghpur roads. Anti liquor organization begins Padayatra.
JAGATSINGHPUR Jun 07. An anti liquor organization Milita Odisha Nisha Nibarana Abhiyan on Thursday began its 5 day Padayatra seeking complete prohibition of liquor selling and creating awareness among locals avoiding liquor consumption. Former MLA Padma Charan Nayak was leading the Padayatra accompanied many Sarvodaya activists including members from few NGOs. Speaking on the inauguration event the anti liquor body leaders informed the Padayatra would cover about 12 districts across the state and culminated at Cuttack and motive of the organization spells out only to educate general public to avoid liquor consumption and pressurize government banning liquor sell in state. Sources added the Padayatra began from district headquarters here and moved to Kendrapada district.
IDCO Sops for Posco affected areas.
JAGATSINGHPUR June 07. The Industry Development Corporation Odisha [IDCO] has decided to move helping Posco affected people in Kujanga areas; in this regard IDCO has announced launching several projects in proposed Posco plant site by spending own funds. Official reports indicate that for helping 52 driven out pro Posco families IDCO has sanctioned Rs 5 Lakh 60 thousand and the money has been given to district collector Jagatsinghpur likely be spend on the affected families requirement. However Rs 50 Lakh has been proposed to spend for construction of a Revenue inspector office, police station building, and a rest shed in Nuagaon village. For conducting renovation work of Paradeep circuit house IDCO has been agreed assisting funds tune of Rs 80 Lakh including the roads connecting Kujanga to Nuagaon would be developed to two lanes and IDCO has proposed giving funds for this road connectivity. Several pro Posco leaders and residents of Posco affected villages have greeted IDCO’s endeavor and sought its early starting.
