Makar sankranti is a special and religious day of Hindu society. It is the day when the glorious Sun God of Hindu begins its ascendancy and entry into the northern hemisphere. This Sankranti very famous festival and is celebrated in all most all parts of the country with great devotion. Basically, the traditional Indian calendar based on lunar position but Sankranti is a solar event so the date of the festival keeps changing the English calendar is always the same 14th January.
