What is Women Techmakers?
Google’s Women Techmakers program provides visibility, community, and resources for women in technology. It’s an effort by Google to bring in more women in technology. Women Techmakers program is supported by local Google Developer Groups. So, Women Techmaker Bhubaneswar is supported by Google Developers Group, Bhubaneswar (GDG BBSR). What is Google Developers Group?
Google Developer Groups (GDGs) are for developers who are interested in Google’s developer technology; everything from the Android, Chrome, Drive, and Google Cloud platforms, to product APIs like the Cast API, Maps API, and YouTube API. It’s an independent community, even though Google supports us from time to time.
What is the Women Techmakers Global Event Series Celebrating International Women’s Day?
International Women’s Day is an important moment to recognize how women have influenced the tech industry and beyond. So, we in association with Google organize a meetup to inspire women to choose technology as a career.
Why are we doing this?
Google strives to cultivate a wholly inclusive workplace around the globe. A key component of that vision is empowering women to pursue their dreams and build tools that change the world.
Having a diversity of perspectives and ideas leads to better decision-making, more relevant products, and makes the industry much more interesting. We believe that by creating the right environments, programs and policies, women in tech are better positioned to drive transformational change in the industry and beyond.

How will we celebrate IWD?
We will have an inspirational talk session by leading women in technology. Then we will have a design sprint compitation, in which we will divide women participants to different groups and they need to come up with an idea and design of an application. After the lunch we will distribute prizes to the winners and goodies/swags to all women participants.
The event will be at IIT Bhubaneswar Auditorium, Jayadev Vihar Campus, behind Hotel Swosti Premium on 20 March 2016, 10 am onwards.
