Cyclist killed in road accident

JAGATSINGHPUR July 24. A middle aged man Kishori Sahoo hailing from Gokalipur village under Raghunathpur area was killed in a road accident occurred at Tarapur on Cuttack- Paradeep state highway on Wednesday. The deceased was returning home by his bicycle when a speeding truck ran over him at the spot. After the accident hundreds of residents from the locality staged road blockade at the spot and disrupted traffic movement demanding compensation for the deceased kith and kin, police armed with magistrate rushed to the agitation site and discussed with the agitators, later Rs 10, 000 sanctioned from the Red Cross was given to the deceased family and the agitation was called off and police performed legal formalities after registering an accident case, however the errant truck driver has been absconded after the accident leaving the vehicle at spot. Two snatchers held, robbed gold chain recovered.

JAGATSINGHPUR July 24. A staff nurse Jyoutrimayi Sahoo who is working in district headquarters hospital here came under attack of two snatchers one Tuesday night who snatched her gold chain when the woman medicos was returning her residence at Deuligramaswar on the outskirts of Jagatsinghpur town.
While timely police action brought success for the cops who picked up duo snatchers and recovered the robbed gold chain.
Report said that victim nurse after finishing duty was returning abode when two bike borne youth intercepted her in a deserted location nearer to her residence and asked for a particular patient who is undergoing treatment at headquarters hospital, on reply the victim health staff expressed her inability knowing about the patient, during the conversation one of the youth suddenly attacked the nurse and snatched her gold chain and fled away from spot.
Incidentally duo fugitive snatchers faced an accident at Charchika bazaar here on the way as result they fled away leaving the bike at the spot, police rushed to the spot and taking clues from the bike registration number and owner’s name reached both accused youth on Tuesday night, the duo youth had been identified as Swadhin Das [21] and Trilochan Sahoo [22] both inhabitant of Purana village and recovered the gold chain under their possession forwarded them to court on Wednesday.
